Lots of time on a rainy day

It has been pouring with rain over the weekend, so I had lots of time to spend making things. The kiddies played with playdough while I cut and sanded and made lots of mess. Here are some photos of what I have been making for the little cottage.

This shabby chalkboard is my favourite thing I have made so far. I love this quote from Cicero!!! It is so true! I love my vege garden (although it is in an autumn mess at present) and I don't know what I would do without my books.

I need a few more little bits and pieces to pop in the pockets and hang from the wire....I'll get round to that eventually.

I also made a cabinet for the kitchen....I am so pleased with it, as the doors even open! Again, I still have to find(make!) all the little bits and pieces for inside the cabinet. I like the little tassels - my first attempt. Maybe they should be pink?

And finally, these are the little plates I have made for a display on the lounge wall.....I found this wonderful magazine showing these plates on the cover and it has taken me a while to make my version. They are so pretty!!

The plates are gorgeous! And I do like the chalk board and the cupboard, and personally I would keep the tassels blue, it's a nice soft shade.

The plates are beautiful! I tried to paint my plates some time ago, but it was a horror. Your hands are very smart.

All absolutely wonderful! I particularly like the little shelf: is too cute! And the dishes are so delicate, I love their feathered edge ...

Thank you so much for your comments....I thought I had better say that I have no talent whatsoever with a paintbrush and definitely did NOT paint these plates. If only I could do that! I'm pretty good on the computer though....I made waterslide decals to fit the plates I already had...some are chrysnbon plastic plates and a couple are porcelain plates I had sitting around. Not only can I not paint, I even find it tricky applying the decals!! Anyway, I am so pleased you like them and thank you so much for visiting my blog and taking the time to comment....I really appreciate it!

Love the plates! I like this style very much but wouldn't begin to know where to start with it myself.
